This is some cool stuff to think about during this weekend and not only the weekend. New Scientist has put up an article about how our brain thinks of out virtual selves in video games. This research was done on World of Warcraft players. A group of scientists at Dartmouth University hooked a couple of World of Warcraft players to the MRI and have found some interesting stuff. When the players were asked about their avatars, the areas that highlighted were the areas that are responsible for "self-reflection and judgment." So, as I understand this; you think of your character the same way you think about yourself. The same part of brain is activated when you think about yourself and your avatars.
